Inspections
Safety inspections
A check for the thing in front of the supervisor, on a phone, with a photo.
On the file
Each line, pass or fail, with a note and a photo.
Duty
MHSWR 1999
Where it is used
On the phone, in front of the thing being checked.
What it does
- Scheduled checks and one started on the spot.
- Scaffold, plant, welfare, fire points, housekeeping, and a list you write for the job.
- Each line is a pass or a fail. A note and a photo sit on the line.
- A fail opens an action with an owner before they leave.
- Built to queue when the signal drops, and send when the mast is back.
On the file
- A scheduled check, or one started on the spot
- The list for this job
- Each line as a pass or a fail
- A note and a photo on the line
- An action and an owner when it fails
Why digital
Against a paper file, a spreadsheet, or a folder in the cabin.
- Done where the work is. The office is not chasing a paper form.
- A photo of what was found, not a description written later.
- A fail is an action the same minute.
The duty
UK law. We name it. We do not invent a badge.
MHSWR 1999
Monitoring and review. An inspection is how you check the controls are holding.
CDM 2015
The principal contractor has to manage the site. Inspections are part of that.
Who uses it
The supervisor on the walk. The safety lead sees the fails in the morning.
Sits with
A fail opens an action on the same board. The check can queue when the signal drops, and send when it is back.
What good looks like
Done where the work is. A fail has an owner before they leave.
Also in Inspections
All modules- Safety auditsA deeper check against the system, not a walk-round.
- Welfare inspectionsThe facilities the job is supposed to have, and the state they are in.
- Scaffold and laddersThe register, and the inspection that keeps it current.
- Harness inspectionsThe fall-arrest kit, and the date it was last checked.
